Manus vs Claude: delegated agent or thinking partner?

Claude is the better pick for developers and knowledge workers: Claude Code, Cowork, Projects, and a generous free tier for $20 a month on Pro. Manus is better when you want an agent to run a long task in a sandbox and hand back the result. Huggle is the third option when that result must stay editable.

What Manus and Claude actually are

Each product described in its own terms, with the strengths and limits that show up once you use it for real work rather than a demo.

general AI agent

Manus

Manus describes itself with the line "Less structure, more intelligence": a general AI agent you brief like a contractor.

01

Manus is a general-purpose autonomous agent. In Agent Mode you give it a goal and it plans and executes the task end to end inside a cloud sandbox: browsing the web, reading and writing files, running code, doing advanced or wide research, generating slides, and deploying websites, then hands back a deliverable for review. Chat Mode is a lighter conversational surface. Pro plans unlock the Manus 1.6 and 1.6 Max models, twenty concurrent tasks, and twenty scheduled tasks; a Team plan adds SSO, data-training opt-out, usage analytics, and shared slide templates. Usage is metered in credits that scale with task complexity and duration.

Where it is strong

  • Deep task autonomy: plan, execute, verify, and deliver without turn-by-turn steering
  • Wide Research and Advanced Research modes for high-intensity research tasks
  • Concurrency and scheduling: twenty concurrent and twenty scheduled tasks on Pro
  • A generous free plan: 300 credits refreshed daily, one concurrent task, two scheduled tasks
  • Team plan from $20 per seat per month with SSO and data-training opt-out
  • Add-on credit packs never expire, unlike monthly plan credits

Where it is limited

  • Credit consumption depends on task complexity and duration, so a long agentic run can cost far more than a short one and the monthly total is hard to forecast
  • Free users get only the Manus 1.6 Lite model in Agent Mode; the full 1.6 and 1.6 Max models require Pro
  • Outputs come back as deliverables from a run. Changing a paragraph or a slide generally means asking the agent again rather than editing in place
  • Manus is a general agent rather than an editor, so there is no dedicated LaTeX, spreadsheet-formula, or database editing surface

Best for

  • Researchers and analysts who want to delegate a long multi-step research task and come back to a report
  • Operators who need an agent to operate a browser, process files, and run code without supervision
  • Users who want many tasks running in parallel (Pro supports twenty concurrent tasks)
  • Teams that need SSO, data-training opt-out, and usage analytics on a per-seat plan

AI assistant

Claude

Anthropic positions Claude as "the AI for problem solvers" and "your thinking partner" across chat, code, and delegated tasks.

02

Claude is Anthropic's AI assistant, available on the web, iOS, Android, and desktop. The Free plan includes chat with the Sonnet and Haiku models, web search, memory across conversations, artifacts, file creation with code execution, desktop extensions, and connectors to Slack, Google Workspace, and remote MCP tools. Pro adds more usage, the Opus model, unlimited Projects, Research, Claude Code, Claude Cowork for delegated and scheduled tasks, Claude Design, Claude Science, Claude in Chrome, and Claude for Microsoft 365. Max buys five or twenty times the Pro usage with higher output limits and priority access. Every plan uses Anthropic's own models with a 200k context window.

Where it is strong

  • A generous free tier: web search, memory, artifacts, file creation with code execution, and connectors at $0
  • Claude Code, Cowork, Design, and Science included on Pro at $20 per month ($17 on annual billing)
  • Projects, Research, and a 200k context window for working across many documents in one place
  • Connectors to Slack, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and any remote MCP server, plus desktop and Chrome apps
  • Max offers 5x or 20x Pro usage with priority access when you need a lot of a frontier model

Where it is limited

  • One vendor's models only. When another lab has the better model for a task, you switch products rather than tiers
  • The interface is a conversation. Files are created through code execution and artifacts, then downloaded; there is no workspace that keeps a deck, a sheet, and a paper editable side by side
  • Usage limits apply on every plan, including Pro, and the published answer to hitting them is a Max plan from $100 per month
  • Team features such as SSO, central billing, and admin controls are reserved for Team and Enterprise plans, not the individual tiers

Best for

  • Developers who want Claude Code and a strong coding model in the same subscription
  • Knowledge workers who live in chat and want long reasoning, memory, and Projects that hold their documents
  • Teams already on Slack, Google Workspace, or Microsoft 365 who want an assistant connected to those tools
  • People who delegate recurring tasks and want Cowork to hand back a deck, document, or spreadsheet for review

03Who should pick which

Choose Manus, Claude, or a third option

The honest version of the verdict is a set of signals, not a winner. Read the column that sounds like your work.

Choose Manus if

3 signals
  • You want to delegate a whole research or browser task and review the deliverable later
  • You need twenty concurrent or scheduled agent runs rather than one thread
  • You want a per-seat team plan with SSO and a shared credit pool from $20 per seat

Choose Claude if

3 signals
  • You want Claude Code and a strong coding model in the same $20 subscription
  • You work across many documents and want Projects, Research, and a 200k context window
  • You need connectors to Slack, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or MCP tools

Choose Huggle if

3 signals
  • You need a finished, editable document, deck, spreadsheet, LaTeX paper, database, or site
  • You want every frontier model, including Anthropic's, without committing to one vendor
  • You want a $10 launch tier or a $20 plan with dollar-denominated included credits

01

Both delegate, but in different amounts

Manus is delegation first. Agent Mode takes a goal and executes it in a cloud sandbox, with Pro unlocking the Manus 1.6 and 1.6 Max models, twenty concurrent tasks, and twenty scheduled tasks. Chat Mode is the lighter surface.

Claude is conversation first with delegation added. Pro includes Cowork for delegated and scheduled tasks, Claude Code for software, Research for multi-source work, and Projects that hold your documents. Its free tier is unusually complete: web search, memory, artifacts, file creation with code execution, and connectors at $0.

02

Same $20 entry price, very different meters

Both entry plans cost $20 per month, and Claude drops to $17 on annual billing. The difference is how usage is counted. Claude applies usage limits per plan and sells Max from $100 for five or twenty times Pro. Manus meters credits per task: 4,000 on the $20 plan, 8,000 on the $40 plan, with long agentic runs consuming more.

Manus also publishes a Team plan from $20 per seat with SSO and a shared credit pool; Anthropic reserves SSO and admin controls for separately priced Team and Enterprise plans.

03

Where Huggle fits

Both products are single-vendor: Manus runs its own models and Claude runs Anthropic's. Huggle includes every frontier model, Anthropic's among them, and routes by a Flash or Max tier. And where Manus returns deliverables and Claude returns conversations and downloads, Huggle keeps the artifact open in an editor.
